Recognition of education

What is the recognition of education or diploma? It is nothing more than confirmation, that the education or professional diploma obtained in a country other than Norway is equivalent to that which can be obtained there.

Why is it useful?

Your earnings can be higher thanks to NOKUT’s (the Norwegian Agency for Quality Assurance in Education) recognition. The diploma recognised in Norway translates into higher hourly rates and greater employment opportunities.

Professions for which NOKUT provides recognition of the diploma/vocational certificate include the following:

• Plumber
• Carpenter
• Concrete worker
• Hairdresser
• Cosmetologist
• Sausage maker/Butcher
• Bricklayer
• Wood products carpenter
• Glazier
• Cabinet maker
• Upholsterer
• Retail butcher/Butcher
• Sausage maker/Butcher
• Industrial machinery mechanic
• Motor vehicle mechanic, light and/or heavy vehicles
• Cook, institutional cook

NOTE! Regulated professions, such as medical professions, require authorisation to be provided by separate entities, such as the Ministry of Health. Master craftsman’s certificates are also recognised by a separate institution, i.e. Mesterbrevnemnda.

– MinID codes with login data or having access to login through BankID, Buypass or Nets Passport Reader app
