Retirement pension

In order to be entitled to the Norwegian retirement pension, you must be a member of the Norwegian Social Security System (Norw. Folketrygden) for at least 3 years. The amount of the retirement pension is influenced, among other things, by the number of qualifying years. In order to receive a full amount of retirement pension, you must have worked for 40 years. If you have been a member of the Social Security System for less than 40 years, the pension rate will be reduced accordingly by the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration (NAV).

The Norwegian retirement pension can be drawn from the age of 67, and if the pension contribution is high enough, even from the age of 62. The application for retirement pension should preferably be submitted 3 months before the commencement of drawing is planned. NAV does not grant the retirement pension retroactively, and the date of receipt of the application is decisive.

Our office provides consultations on the Norwegian retirement pension and on the individual pension pillars.
