Confirmation of professional qualifications for Electricians (DSB)

Persons qualified to work in the electricity professions must obtain confirmation of their qualifications from the Directorate of Civil Defence (DSB) in order to work legally in this industry in Norway. The authorisation may be obtained for 12 months (the time required for examination is approx. 2 months) or for an indefinite period (the time required for examination is approx. 4 months).

The following documents must be collected in order to apply for the said confirmation of qualifications:

• a copy of the graduation certificate/diploma with the grade list and curriculum in the original version and sworn translated into Norwegian/English
• a copy of the certificate of completion of the apprenticeship (if required) in the original version and sworn translated into Norwegian/English
• a copy of the certificate, vocational or journeyman’s certificate or other certificate of professional qualifications in the profession concerned in the original version and sworn translated into Norwegian/English
• a copy of certificates of employment from current or former employers as proof of at least one year of practical experience in the profession in question, during the previous 10 years after graduation (issued in countries outside Norway), in the original version and sworn translated into Norwegian/English.

• a copy of a valid passport

Remember that the documents must be translated by a sworn translator! We also provide such translations.
