Polish Connection / Sickness benefit
Sickness benefit (Norw. sykepenger) is paid by the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration (NAV) to an employee on sick leave due to illness or injury.
The first 16 working days of sick leave are paid by the employer, provided that this is the time when the person was supposed to be actually at work.
If after this period the employee is still on sick leave, sickness benefit is paid by NAV. The benefit rate is 100% of gross salary. The maximum period of sick leave is 52 weeks.
If during the sick leave, the person concerned stays in Norway, the sickness benefit is paid by the local branch of NAV. The branch must be submitted with the sick leaves issued by
a Norwegian doctor on a regular basis. The person on Norwegian sick leave must approve it using his NAV profile, by logging through BankID, Buypass or Nets Passport Reader app. Where there is no such possibility of logging in, he must submit NAV with a paper version of the sick leave. In the case of sick leave issued abroad (e.g. in Poland), he must send the relevant documentation to NAV via the Social Security Institution.
Our company deals with recovering sickness benefit from NAV on behalf of the client when there has been no possibility of contacting NAV for a longer period since the submission of the first sick leave, if NAV has paid the benefit only in part, or when the decision has to be challenged.
Do you need help with recovering the outstanding sickness benefit from Norway?
Send us a request containing a description of the case to email@example.com
If you have access to login through BankID, Buypass or Nets Passport Reader app, we can contact NAV about your case much faster.
